Finished Sign

After much painting and fun- here is the final sign!

The sides are spray painted silver, the front 

was painted in acrylic and finally I sprayed a lacquer

over everything. I am really pleased with the outcome!

Signage, Continued

The next step was to apply 6 coats of gesso, sanding in
between every 2 layers to create a smooth and even base.
All of these steps took quite a lot of time and effort with
very little to show for all my work, but it was important,
because it created a good, solid foundation for my next step
which is painting my design. Now the fun really begins!

Signage Project

Cradle- the frame for the panel to prevent warping

The first steps to creating my sign after designing the

concept was to cut out the cradle and masonite panel. Next,

I put the cradle together with wood glue and screws and then

glued the panel on top and secured using my nail gun.

Finally, I sanded the entire piece so it would be smooth and

used the sander to roughen up the smooth masonite panel

so the gesso primer would adhere well to the panel.

Book 2

In this project we worked with calligraphy and examined
manuscripts for our inspiration. This was a really fun
project and I enjoyed laboring over each letter. The
poems in this book were written by my daughter.

Book 1

Our first project was to explore different typefaces and use
creative ways to illustrate adjectives. We also used this book
as an opportunity to review the nomenclature of letters.
